Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or place entered into a search box is sent directly to the outside provider that operates that tool. The provider processes the request and supplies its response. We do not retain a separate site log of the search words you submit.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email or other direct message may be kept as needed to answer it. We limit access within our organization and do not disclose the message outside it unless the law requires disclosure.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a page loads, ordinary server and analytics systems may record technical details about the visit:
- Page-view dates and times
- The referring site, when one is reported
- Browser name and version
- Device class and operating system
- Internet Protocol address
- Pages viewed and approximate time spent on them
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device. We and our analytics services may use them to combine traffic information, such as which Grimes County record pages are visited most and where a session ends. Browser controls can reject or remove cookies, although disabling them may change how some features work.
What We Do With This Data
- Delivering a search request to the selected outside provider
- Operating, maintaining, and improving site performance
- Finding errors, misuse, and other technical problems
- Understanding which resources visitors use
- Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
We do not keep, assemble, or sell a database of personal criminal histories. The content identifies official channels for Grimes County Sheriff records, court files, Texas DPS CCH, and the Texas Public Sex Offender Registry. Texas Government Code Section 411.135 authorizes DPS to disseminate specified conviction and deferred-adjudication CCH, but that official function belongs to DPS, not this site. Visitor data is not compiled into consumer reports or personal records about someone else, and we are not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies power the search boxes. Their privacy policies govern the information sent through their tools. Each partner chooses its own retention, processing, and disclosure practices, which are beyond our control. Read the applicable policy before entering a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to the Grimes County Sheriff, court portals, Texas agencies, legal resources, or an outside search service. Once you leave this site, the destination's policy applies. Review it before providing personal information.
Advertising providers may use their own systems to recognize activity across websites and select targeted ads. Their tracking is subject to their policies.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal information. Data may be available to:
- Analytics providers that measure use and performance
- Advertising networks that serve content on the pages
- Search partners that process queries submitted to their tools
- A court, agency, or law-enforcement body acting under a valid legal demand
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable safeguards are used for information within our control. No online system can guarantee complete security, so we cannot promise that unauthorized access or another breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
The site is intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from a person under 18. If such information comes to our attention, we will take reasonable steps to remove it.
Your Data Rights
Rights vary with the law that applies to you. The Texas Public Information Act, Government Code Chapter 552, governs records held by Texas governmental bodies and does not turn this private site into a government records custodian. Subject to applicable law and our ability to verify the request, you may:
- Request deletion of personal data we control
- Ask what personal information we maintain about you
- Seek correction of inaccurate information
- Object to certain processing when the law provides that choice
Updates to This Policy
This policy may be revised as site practices or legal requirements change. A revised policy will appear here with its new effective date, and continued use will be governed by the posted version.
